MCSF holding in-person school board candidate forum

Voters living in the Manchester School District have 10 candidates running for 4 seats on the ballot in the school board election this November. In order to help everyone make an informed decision, the Manchester Community School Foundation is hosting a candidate forum. Because of the large number of candidates they have been split into 2 separate nights. The forum will be held on October 7 from 6pm to 7:30pm and October 14 from 6pm to 7:30pm in the media center at the Manchester JR/SR High School located at 20500 Dutch Dr. At this time 8 of the 10 candidates running have committed to participating in the forum.
The school board positions have been split into two races, one race for three 4-year-term seats and one race for one two-year-term seat. Six candidates are running for the three 4-year seats and four candidates are running for the 2-year seat.
Two incumbents are running to retain their seats, current school board president, Sandra Wiitala, and Christine Deacons. Wiitala was elected in 2022 and began serving on the board in 2023. Deacons was appointed last August to replace Sarah Roth, who resigned after being hired by the district, which created a conflict of interest. The two school board members not running for re-election are Rebecca Harvey, who has been serving on the board since 2015, and Michael Tindall, who has been serving on the board since 2019.
The candidates for the 4-year-term seats are Wiitala, Deacons, Christopher M. Caron, Michelle Champagne, James Tobias, and Joseph Walsh. The candidates for the 2-year-term seat include Heather Ramsey, Celia Creger, Chelsea Kapuniai, and Logan Caszatt.
