DDA announces scarecrow contest, with prizes!

Manchester’s Downtown Development Authority has announced the 2026 Manchester Scarecrow Contest! Individuals, businesses, organizations and clubs are all invited to participate and there will be prizes.
You must register by emailing farmersmarket48158@gmail.com by Friday, October 2 at 8pm. Entering is free and each participant will be assigned a location in front of a participating DDA business and will be provided with 1 corn stalk, 1 medium-sized pumpkin, and 1 bale of straw at the site of their display on Oct 3 at which time you can put up your scarecrow. It will remain in place until November 1 so needs to be sturdy and weatherproof.
Community members will be able to vote for their favorite scarecrows inside participating DDA businesses with one vote per person per day counting. Voting will begin October 3rd at business opening and end on October 19 at business closing. The winner will be announced and a DDA gift basket will be presented to the winner at 2pm at the River Raisin Distillery Trunk or Treat event on Sunday, October 25.
