Carl F. Brown (May 11, 1943 – September 24, 2026)

Carl F. Brown, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2026. He was born on May 11, 1943, in Detroit, MI, to Harry and Vivian (Lagman) Brown. The family moved to the Upper Peninsula (Dollarville) when his dad returned from serving in WWII. Carl remained in the UP until graduation in 1962 when he headed south to begin a 37-year career with the State of Michigan both in the Departments of Mental Health and Corrections retiring in January of 1999. He married Chris Fabel on July 2, 1976, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage this past July.

Besides his wife, Chris, he is survived by his daughters Lynda (Bob) Schultz of Chelsea and Ceara (Ryan) Shankland of Clinton and two grandchildren, Janie Schultz and Spencer Shankland. He is also survived by his niece and Godchild, Julia Steinaway, of Glassboro, NJ, and Manchester. Carl loved his family with all his heart and will be remembered always as a kind man who would do anything for his family and friends.

A celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at the Sharon Church Fellowship Hall, 19980 Pleasant Lake Road, Manchester, MI, beginning at 3pm where family and friends are invited to share memories and a meal. In lieu of flowers, please do a kind deed for someone or make a donation to a charity of your choice in Carl’s memory.
