SHARON TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2026 AT 6:00 PM

Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of Sharon Township will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Sharon Township Hall, 18010 Pleasant Lake Rd, Manchester, MI 48158 on the following:

Special Land Use – Determination of whether the proposed Extraction of Natural Resources will result in “Very Serious Consequences” under the state zoning law governing gravel mining.

Amrize Great Lakes, Inc. has proposed expanding their current mineral extraction operation by 121.83 acres on 4 parcels for an overall operation of 218.12 acres along M-52 and Peckins Road. The parcels proposed for expansion have the addresses 6900 & 7000, M-52, and parcel ID numbers: 15-11-400-002, 15-11-400-003, 15-11-400-004, 15-11-400-005.

A copy of the petitioner’s request may be examined at the Township Office during business hours on Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, or online at www.sharontownship.org. Written comments concerning this request will be received in person or by mail at/to the Township office located at 18010 Pleasant Lake Rd, Manchester, MI 48158, or via email to pc@sharontownship.org from the date of this publication until the date of the Public Hearing.
