The American Legion Post 117 is calling all local veterans to come out and become a member. We meet on the second Thursday of the month at 7pm and the first year of membership is free. The American Legion has a long history of fighting for veterans and their families. Formed in 1919, it has provided a place of camaraderie for many, supported local communities and charity organizations, and lobbied for legislation and funding to support the veteran community. To learn more about what the American Legion has done for veterans and service members, including lobbying and getting the GI Bill passed, here is the history of the organization: https://www.legion.org/about/organization/history .

Like many other organizations, membership is dwindling across the country and many of the current members have been sustaining their local posts with minimal membership numbers and participation for decades.

The American Legion has been there for veterans and their communities since 1919, it’s our turn to step up and take our place in carrying that forward. The networks the Legion has built and its advocacy legacy are a tool the veteran community can use to continue to fight for the benefits we earned. Come support fellow veterans and your community by attending on the Second Tuesday of the month, at 7pm. The American Legion Hall post 117 is located at 203 Adrain St. Dress is casual. Some of the members meet up at the post every morning for coffee too. Come on down and meet us.
