On May 12, I and Mackenzie James, office administrators from the Edwards Jones Office located at 118 East Main Street, and ten other Edward Jones Branch Office Administrators spent our annual Day of Caring volunteering at the Humane Society of Huron Valley. Edward Jones provides associates with one paid volunteer day each year to support a cause meaningful to them, and each year I have chosen to dedicate that time to helping animals in need at HSHV.
This was my sixth year volunteering with the organization and it was Mackenzie’s first, making it a special opportunity for us to give back to a cause that is close to our hearts.
Our group spent the day helping with a variety of projects to prepare for the Humane Society’s annual Walk & Wag and Run fundraiser. One of the highlights of the day was spending time with Juggernaut, a shelter dog who quickly won everyone’s hearts. Watching him come alive while running and playing in the yard was a special reminder of how much personality and joy these animals have to share.
We are incredibly grateful for the continued generosity of the Manchester community and surrounding areas. Last year, the support for our Holiday Animal Shelter Charity Drive was overwhelming. Thanks to your donations, supplies were distributed to four different animal shelters in the area, and our vehicles were packed full when delivering the contributions!
Our Annual Holiday Animal Shelter Charity Drive will begin accepting donations on November 2, 2026, and continue through December 30, 2026. A red collection box will be available outside the office, and an additional donation box will be located inside the lobby.
We are collecting new or gently used bath towels (larger towels preferred), queen-size blankets or smaller, pet beds that can be laundered in a standard washing machine, pet food in original bags or cans (up to three months past expiration date), scoopable and lightweight cat litter, dog treats, spray cheese, xylitol-free peanut butter, canned dog food, waterless pet shampoo, 70% clear, unscented rubbing alcohol, liquid Vick’s Solution (for steam vaporizers), small cat furniture, gift cards to Amazon (or pet supply stores or office supply stores), gallon and quart-size Ziploc bags, 4Health Chicken & Vegetable Dog Food from Tractor Supply, bleach, Purina Gentle Cat Food, and paper towels.
Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference in the lives of animals waiting for their forever homes. Thank you for helping us support local shelters and the incredible work they do throughout the year. We look forward to another successful drive and appreciate the generosity that makes our community so special.
