First Farmers Market of 2015
Thursday, May 7 was opening day for the 2015 season of the Manchester Farmers Market. It also was the first market in it’s 2015 location, Chi Bro Park. The weather cooperated and the sunny, breezy afternoon in the grassy park was perfect!
In addition to the new location, this was the first market with new market manager, Melissa Andersen. Andersen stated after the market was over, “I felt it was very successful considering having a new location this year. There was a lot of positivity between the patrons and the vendors. I look forward to seeing how the season progresses!”
In addition to many returning vendors, three vendors were new to the Manchester Farmers Market, Nellie's Lavender Estate who sold with herbs de provence, lavender honey, and teas, Crystal Nalli who sold fresh baked goods and amazing soft pretzels and Blue Sky Soaps who sold hand made soaps, honeys and other crafts.
Andersen stated that they had received a lot of positive feedback from patrons on Thursday. People really appreciated the large parking lot. Multiple parents expressed the convenience of shopping while their children played on playground equipment and several mentioned that they were used to bringing their kids by the park after school during the week and it made the Farmers Market easy to attend.
Next Thursday the farmers market will feature a "Get Your Garden Growing" theme with a garden and seed swap. Patrons can come and bring old tools, extra plants and/or seeds and exchange them with others for free or trade (no money can be exchanged). The Manchester District Library will be there with free seeds from the the Manchester Seed Library as well.

Market manager Andersen had several comments about how visible the farmers market was from the street and how the location on M-52 made remembering to stop that much easier.
