This Friday, Nov. 6th, Manchester organizations will be coming together for the 28th year in a row to honor their top volunteers at the annual Community Resource Center Volunteer Recognition Banquet. Each nominee will receive a certificate recognizing them on behalf of their organization. This year 18 organizations are recognizing a volunteer.

Organizations and volunteers include:

  • Manchester Athletic Boosters - Mary Fielder
  • Riverfolk/Gazebo Concerts - William J. "Bill" Schwab Posthumous
  • Manchester Mens Club - Richard D. "Scottie" Scott Posthumous
  • Manchester Ladies Society - Theresa and Amelia Herron
  • Manchester Wellness Center - Reed and Linda Breight
  • Manchester Community Schools - Marlene Wagner
  • Manchester Middle School PTSA - Drew Daniels
  • Kiwanis  of Manchester - Jerry Humitz
  • Manchester Area Historical Society - Jerry J. Waters
  • Emanuel United Church of Christ - Jeff Schaffer
  • Manchester Lions Club - Pat Kohmescher
  • Kiwanis of Manchester-Key Club - Caitlyn Baskins
  • Manchester Civic Club - John Hinkley
  • Klager Elementary PTO - Kathleen Austin

Of these outstanding volunteers, 5 will be selected to receive additional awards: the D. Little-B. Rhees Posthumous Award, the Service to Youth Award, the Star Award, Commitment to Community Award and the Claire Reck Volunteer of the Year Award.

In addition to honoring local volunteerism, the banquet is also a fund-raiser for the CRC to support its non-profit mission. The CRC works to connect needy community members with public and charitable programs. It assists the unemployed, low-income, elderly, frail, and disabled members of our community with support that decreases their hardship. The CRC also operates a food pantry that provides direct assistance to low income families in the Manchester area.
