Annual Egg Hunt, a Manchester Tradition (photos)
Saturday March 27th, the Manchester Men's Club held their annual egg hunt. Two-hundred and ten dozen eggs, purchased from the Manchester Market, were boiled, dyed, and hidden. Multiple generations of the Men's Club were out early on the chilly morning to set up. Sons and grandsons helped spread the hand-dyed eggs over the entirety of Carr Park like rainbow sprinkles on a green frosted cake.
As 1 o'clock neared, the Easter Bunny made an appearance, handing out eggs and giving hugs. Children, toddlers through 4th graders, spread along the edge of the parking lot, inching further and further into the grass in anticipation.
At 1 o'clock sharp the toddlers were let onto the field, while each age group, youngest to oldest, followed like a wave. Minutes later, all the eggs had been found. Those kids lucky enough to find special eggs lined up for their two dollar bill prize. The rest swarmed the play ground, while parents were left to count eggs and pull up recipes for deviled eggs and egg salad on their smart phones.
