Due to the cancellation of the Manchester Community Fair, the members of the Manchester Steer Club and the Manchester Swine Club still have worked hard on raising and training their livestock. With no live auction at the fair this year, the exhibitors still need to market and sell their animals. Members of the Manchester Lamb Club have already sold their livestock at UPI. The steer and swine club have partnered with Sheridan Auction Service to create an on-line auction. There are 11 steers and 34 pigs to be sold. All animals currently have a slaughter spot if needed (which is hard to come by during the pandemic).

The auctions will run until the evening of August 17th. Anyone can register to bid at bid.sheridanauctionservice.com and create an account. Look for the Manchester Community Fair Logo and click on catalog to check out the two separate auctions. Animals are sold by the “head,” not by the pound. There are no buyers fees, but buyers will need to pay to process the animal that is purchased.

Many of these kids depend on the money they earn to pay for college in the future. If you are looking for some great pork or beef, please support your local youth at these auctions. If you don’t want to buy an animal, but still want to donate to a particular exhibitor or to a club in general, please contact Denise Blumenauer at 734-347-5696.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
