Everyone loves pie, and junior/senior high school students had plenty to go around

After taking a year off due to shutdowns and other insurmountable issues, the annual Senior Citizens dinner was hosted by the kids at Riverside Intermediate School. Songs performed by the third- and fourth-grade choruses were followed by performances by the fifth- and sixth-grade bands.

Retired Klager teacher Carolyn Supers headed up the effort, sent invitations, and helped the students decorate the tables, which garnered plenty of compliments. Supers oversaw the entire day with expertise and her organizational skills.

Superintendent Brad Bezeau acted as Master of Ceremonies, welcoming seniors and introducing the musical talents displayed by the students, as directed by Mr. Ed Schoendorff (known to the kids as "Mr. S"). Everyone enjoyed the performances and all joined in to sing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" as a finale.

Then came the moment everyone was waiting for — the luncheon, hosted by third and fourth graders. Served by the kitchen crew led by Ms. Jill Smith, the food was great and greatly enjoyed by all ... especially the pies! Grandparents got to sit with their grandchildren, if applicable.

This was an event to show our appreciation for all the senior citizens in our community, and recognize their support of the school district over the years. Thanks to all who participated in any way, especially the Riverside staff.

Dr. Bradley Bezeau, Superintendent, emceed the event. He is pictured with Carolyn Supers, who organized the entire day.

Mr. Ed Schoendorff led the kids and the seniors in a rendition of Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.

Seniors received a delicious turkey dinner compliments of the Riverside kitchen staff.

There were many compliments on the lovely table decorations.
