Marion Creason (December 6, 1924 - December 12, 2021)

Marion Creason passed away peacefully, of natural causes, on December 12, 2021, just days after her 97th birthday. She was born on December 6, 1924, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Stephen and Margaret Medvecz, and lived in Scranton until, at the age of fifteen, her family moved to Detroit, Michigan. It was there she met her future husband, Nova Benjamin (Ben) Creason. Knowing early in their relationship that he was the one for her, they married on June 26, 1943, in Detroit, a few days after Marion’s graduation.

Marion was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church for 67 years and was very active in her church community. She was a Sunday School teacher, and belonged to the Willow Circle, the United Methodist Women, and King’s Daughters. She remained an active member of the church until she moved into Brooklyn Living Center in 2015.

Beside her religious activities, Marion was a Brownie Scout leader, and a volunteer at the Chelsea Methodist Home. At the age of 50, she followed her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. Although she was the oldest student in her nursing class, she enjoyed the other students and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She also completed a Volunteer Training Program at Hospice of Washtenaw. Marion worked for ten years at Emma Bixby Hospital in Adrian. She also did private duty and industrial nursing, and volunteered her services within the Manchester community.

Over the years, animals have played an important part in Marion’s life. She has had a variety of pets, including birds, tropical fish, hamsters, and a variety of dogs and cats. She had a soft spot in her heart for any animal in need. She fostered baby bunnies, baby birds, and a variety of other creatures.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, a half-sister, her youngest daughter (Amy Ann Creason Powers), and her husband of 54 years. Survivors include daughters Karen (Tad) Mirochna of Tucson, Arizona, and Kristin Warner of Manchester, Michigan, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family of Marion Creason would like to specially thank Tecumseh Place and Careline Hospice for their exemplary care of their mother during her extended illness.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a service for family at the Manchester United Methodist Church Memorial Garden in May.
