The Manchester District Library Board of Trustees is an all-volunteer governing body made up of two members from each of the library’s participating service areas: Manchester Village, Manchester Township, Bridgewater Township, and Freedom Township. Trustees create and oversee library policies, administer the budget, and set the strategic plan.

Matthew Cook has a lot to say about Manchester District Library. “MDL has done a great job of offering curbside service and extending Wi-Fi into our parking lots. We have mobile hotspots available for checkout. We added so many new services, the latest being a subscription to the online version of New York Times. In addition to all the services available in the library, patrons also have access to Kanopy, Hoopla, Libby, activity passes, and so much more.”

Raised in Farmington Hills, Cook moved to Manchester in 2005 and joined the MDL Board of Directors in 2011. He now helps set direction for the library as Vice President. He is also the Director of Technology for Marshall Public Schools and was an elementary school teacher for many years before that.

In addition to all of the new library services he’s so passionate about, he also goes on to say, “There is so much that I love about the library. One of my favorite things is that it provides opportunities for our community to come together and share their passions through programs and groups. Another is the many services offered by MDL from streaming video and audiobooks to checking out a variety of items for the home and garden.”

Members of the public are welcome to attend the monthly meetings, held in the Village Chambers of the Community Building on the second Thursday of each month. To learn more or to contact a member of the MDL Board of Trustees, visit manchesterlibrary.info/board-of-trustees.html.
