Andrew Tindall of Chelsea, son of Michael and Sally Tindall of Manchester and an MHS graduate, competed in the U.S. Amateur Tournament at Radrick Farms in Ann Arbor on June 28, winning the tournament in two rounds.

Tindall’s first round was a five-under par 66 and his second round ended at par (71), tying him with Yugi Lin of Ann Arbor. Because Tindall had the lowest overall score, he was awarded first place.

“This is the largest amateur golf tournament in the world, and the USGA Amateur Qualifier,” said Michael Tindall. “We are so very proud of Andrew.”

Tindall will tee off on August 14 at Cherry Hill Village Golf Course, near Denver, Colorado, for the next qualifying round of competition. This tournament will narrow the competitive field from 312 golfers to just 64, from all over the world.

The event will definitely be a family affair, as his parents, wife, and son will be accompanying him on this momentous journey. Good luck, Andrew, and safe travels.

Tindall won this GAM trophy earlier this year with teammate Mike Ignastik of Saline.
