Albert Kahn (1869 – 1942) was the most famous and innovative industrial architect of the 20th Century and designed notable buildings all over the world. As he settled in Detroit we are lucky to have a number of them in Michigan and even luckier to have his granddaughter, Carol Rose Kahn, as a Manchester resident.
Carol will be a featured speaker at an upcoming Albert Kahn Legacy Foundation and Jackson County Parks event in the City of Jackson at the Jackson County Tower Building (formerly the Union and Peoples National Bank) on Wednesday, September 16, from 1pm until 3pm. Celebrate Jackson County’s preservation and restoration of the Albert Kahn designed building with a tour and a special behind-the-scenes look at the remarkable transformation of the ballroom located on the second floor.
An organized talk and program will take place from approximately 1:30pm – 2pm featuring perspectives on the building’s history and future from Carol, as well as Jackson County Parks staff and local historians. Additional time will be available for exploration, interpretation, informal discussion, and photo opportunities.
Tickets cost $30 (or $25 for Albert Kahn Legacy Foundation members.) To purchase tickets visit https://albertkahnlegacy.org/, click on “events” and “The Jackson County Tower Building: Exploring a Kahn Landmark” in September, or scan the QR code. A portion of each ticket purchased will be donated to support the preservation and care of the Jackson County Tower Ballroom. Questions? email info@albertkahnlegacy.com.
