Schools are back in session, and the Clinton Library is here to support your learning and recreation needs, despite the challenges this “new normal” has thrown our way. New this fall, we are offering laptops and hotspots for checkout (funded by a grant from the IMLS), literacy kits for young readers of all levels, a Banned Books reading challenge, daily child safety Facebook posts, virtual educational programming, a new graphic novel book club, and in-person (outdoors) story times, story walks, scavenger hunts, and more. You do not want to miss out! Want details? We encourage you to visit the library, website (https://www.clintontownshiplibrary.org/), or Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/CTPL.Lenawee) for more information. We’ll hit a few of the highlights here for you.

In honor of Banned Books week, the Clinton Library is holding a Banned Books challenge through September 30. Select a book from the in-library display or online collection (https://tinyurl.com/letsreadbannedbooks), read it, and fill out an entry form. Or take our online Banned Books quiz https://tinyurl.com/ctplbannedbooks. Three winners will be selected to win a great prize.

Recognizing Child Safety Month, the Clinton Library is also posting daily child safety tips on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/CTPL.Lenawee). Learn about choking hazards, common household poisons, car seat best practices, and more.

A story walk has been installed in Tate Park and will remain until 9/28. Now is a great time to get outside, enjoy our gorgeous early-autumn weather, and read an original story written and illustrated by our talented staff.

Save the date for our next scavenger hunt, scheduled for October 23, and since it will be inspired by Halloween it’s sure to be a fun and spooky adventure. And of course, there will be a sweet treat waiting for you when you’re through. See the library’s Facebook page for details.

In October, the library will be hosting a bookmark design contest and a pumpkin decorating contest. Visit the library for details.

And of course, there are the usual story times and book clubs continuing through October. Copies of books for book clubs are available for checkout. A reminder: the library is open to the public. We welcome patrons to come in, browse for books or movies, or use the computers, printers, or copier. We ask that you please remember to wear your mask.

A special thank you to Clinton Rotary for supporting our story walks, literacy kits, and scavenger hunts.
